Wort's Fashion of Haute Couture
I already
mentioned that I begin to read the book The Key Moments in Fashion. So, I thought
that some information might be interesting to you to). First part is about the
father of the haute couture.
Let’s begin!
Worth’s
dresses were simple creations to show fabric and woman’s figure. He made an
evening gown out of the white tulle spangled in sliver for Princess Pauline
Metternich.
Let’s begin!
French haute
couture was started by Charles Frederick Worth in the1850s.
Worth came
from the poor family and had no connections to the fashion world.
In 1845 he moved
to Paris and his first job was selling textiles; in 1870 Worth was employing 1200
seamstresses, and turning out hundreds of dresses a week.
There are some
facts about his work-style that surprises me. First, Worth was obsessed with
getting the garments perfectly fitted. However, he had no formal training in
tailoring. Another point, clients were not allowed to express own opinion.
Worth would decide what they are going to wear.
Worth’s the
most famous creation was the peacock dress.
Also, Worth
made some innovations in fashion industry which is now accepted worldwide. For example,
he developed spring and fall collections, used live models, and practice an exclusive
design and selling patterns to foreign firms who could make their own garments.
His fashion house was managed by his family from 1870- to 1950s.
I hope you like my brief info). And under the title of this post you can open option "read more" and see more pictures.
